What are the views of regular gym-goer on setting on home gym?

Many people may argue that why pay so much for the equipment when you can just pay $2.50 for clubfit entry. However what they have missed out is the travelling cost and time. A home gym is a lifelong investment, it is definitely more worth to build your own gym rather than wasting the time to travel and squeeze with the crowd.

Some may say that you are wasting money on weights as you will always outgrow them. First of all, here are some facts:

1) Newbies to weightlifting gain muscle much faster than people who have been lifting a long time.

2) As you train, you will get diminishing returns until you reach your genetic maximum.

As such, many of us who trained non competitively will never have a chance to reach our maximum. On average, training with 100+kg of weights will be more than enough to reach our goal, eg. to be fit, to look good and lean, to be muscular.

Why a Home Gym?

With a home gym, it’s in your own house so there is no need to travel. Once you reach home from work, you can exercise right away!

You can train any time you want:

You are the one who decides whether to train or not and when to train and when to rest. Train whenever you want. No worries when the gym is closed. Your home gym is open 24/7. No worry about bad weather. When the weather is rainy or gloomy, sometimes you might get discouraged to travel to the gym. There is no such thing with a home gym.

You don’t need to spend time on trips to gym:

Talking about time management. You’ll have more time on activities that you enjoy and/or that bring you money. No need to pay ongoing gym membership fees. Gym memberships don’t come cheap nowadays and to exercise and keep fit, you need to pay your membership constantly. Once you stop paying, you stop exercising. With a home gym, you invest only once and you can train as much as you want. This is really a big benefit.

You’ll spend less time training:

You won’t wait until someone will finish his set on the workstation that you need right now. You’ll be able to apply such techniques as ‘alternating sets’ or ‘circuits’ with no headaches. You would not longer need to wait 5 minutes before doing your next set when your muscles are already warmed up and pumped. Rest time between sets should be 45-60 seconds.

You’ll gain immunity to stupid advices of self-proclaimed gym experts:

You won’t even hear them. You have no idea how many people not only picked the wrong path in training but got injured following those advices.

You’ll have the only equipment that YOU need:

No fancy machines. Bodyweight, free weights, bench, rack and some stuff is really all that you need.

You’ll be able to listen to YOUR favorite music or silence:

Sometime your favorite music actually helps to train. Some people like silence. Both are unattainable in commercial gyms. If you’re the kind to train alone without any distractions and serious about making progress, a home gym is better suited for you as there are less chances in getting disturbed.

You’ll be more clean and hygiene:

With your home gym, there is more hygiene as it’s mostly used by you and not dozens of other people. How would you feel if you need to wipe out someone else sweat on a machine before using it?

Your pride and ego!

Let us face it, It’s been years since you’ve been exercising. You’re fat and overweight, equipped maybe with a bulging tummy, flabby arms, thunder thighs and even a double chins. Your body is awfully out of shape! Now you want to get back in shape, so you stepped into a gym. You started to be feel that all eyes are falling on you, a Mr. Fatso struggling to lift up that fleshy legs while shaking the entire gym with each stomping step, at the same time nervously grasping for air as if he gonna faint out in any moment. Even the giggling sounds from the other gym patrons seems to be laughing at you. You start to wonder, why are you even here in the first place?

Okay, Great! So you do not have any extra pounds hanging around your body. You have a nice slim and slender build that might be the envious of others. But PRECISELY, that is the PROBLEM! You are just too skinny! Your never look as great as a well-toned guy in the same shirt. Even if your girl leaning on you might make you toppled to the ground. You are determined to gain some weight and bulk up, so you stepped into the gym. A heavily panting sound mingled with ear deafening steps aroused your attention to Mr.Fatso. Scanning through him from his head to his feets, you can’t help revealing the slightest grin on your face. You step in to the strength training area, full of fancy equipments, sweat-dripping muscular guy with giant triceps, biceps and some with arms almost twice the size of your. Suddenly, you feel out of place. You lose the courage to even pick up a dumbbell. You are at a lost of what to do, you are afraid of those floating eyes judging on how good your form is, what weight you carrying. Strangely, you sensed a connection between you and Mr.Fatso. Not much difference after all

Why get yourself in this awkwardness and uneasiness? Why not build a homegym and train at your own comfort?!

Conclusion?

There is no place for excuses. Build your own gym and become the boss of your training!
